Home Design – Custom Furnishing – Curtains According to the Theme

Although, you may not comprehend it, it is very important to match the curtains in with the theme. This does not mean that you have to play it safe and make the curtains match perfectly but they should not clash with the custom furnishings.

Make sure that the materials reflect the custom furnishing materials in the room, the color works with your color palette and the thickness of the material works with the feel of the interior decoration. The last thing you will want is a heavy drape in a light and airy in your home design space.

When it comes to the color, you can use the curtains to add depth to a space or you can use the curtains to provide a little pop of color or a statement piece to the room.

Last of all, I would suggest sketching out the window area and drawing in the drapes before you go out and purchase them.

Interior Design Styles - Living Room

Living room decorating ideas naturally should flow from a particular design style. That does not mean that the style should dictate all your ideas, though. My opinion is that rooms look best when a home design style meets the personality of the designer and in accordance to the home owners.

Here is a brief list of living room design styles:
Traditional design - classic and comfortable, no surprises, very predictable.

Asian - intricate detail, bold color, natural influences, peace and serenity includes Chinese, Feng-Shui, Yin-Yang and Japanese styles especially.

Country - friendly and casual, earthy tones, often lighter woods, vintage inflection.
Rustic - charm, style, texture with woods, twigs, and animal accents, these days its quite sophisticated as well. Rustic interior decorating designs can be further sub-divided into country, southwestern and western styles.

European - England, France and Italy are the countries typically referred as European decorating. English Country, Victorian, French Country, French, Italian and Tuscan decorating styles fall under European home decorating style.

Mission - natural materials, geometric design, back to basics feel.

Contemporary Style - "the style of the day", sleek, clean lines, spare and unique.

Southwest style - Native American influences, kokopellis, bright blues, reds, and oranges with earth tones.

These are some of the basic styles, which you can utilize while making an out plan for decorating your living room themes. There are many sub-styles as well which I will write about in my blogs soon. You can learn more about decorating styles for home interiors. The biggest thing to remember about style is not to worry about completely true to any one style. Mix and merge different things up as apposite.

The Impact of Fall Colors in Interior Decorating

I would never recommend you paint interior walls just to decorate for a season, but so many of our favorite colors come in fall anyway. You can safely paint almost any room in warm tones and it works all year round. Paint a single wall in orange or another bright fall color and leave the rest white for strong contrast.

Bold is Beautiful - Go for Orange & White!

Orange is a bold color, but look at the contrast you get when you paint just a single wall in a room in a very bold primary color and leave the rest of the room white? It is striking and, again, will work well all year. Other ‘bold’ fall colors that work well as wall paint colors include cinnamon, cranberry and burgundy.

Think contrast!

Blend or contrast colors, generally using no more than two or three colors in a room, a cranberry wall with white chair rail looks great but four cranberry walls and no trim will seem too stark.

Though, you can get away with a little color addition to greatly affect the overall look of a room. So, you can add red, yellow or orange to a room that otherwise has none of these colors, creating a central point in one area or splashing the accent color in several places throughout the room.

Home Design – What’s Out

Yesterdays home design trends are on their way out of home fashion. A home with fashionable designs and features can easily attract trendy homebuyers, and may increase the value of your property.

The home designs trends that are losing ground are bamboo floors, spiral staircases, and laminate flooring that looks like hardwood. Bamboo floors have been found to be scratch-prone and laminated flooring is often noisy.

Spiral staircases are unfriendly for elders, pets and young children; Home sellers and real estate agents can use some latest home design trends to add more value and appeal to a home, condo or any other type of residential real estate before putting the property on the market for sale.
